Metropolitan Club of New York

The Metropolitan Club of New York has a rich history dating back to 1891 when a meeting of the city’s elite, including William K. Vanderbilt and J. Pierpont Morgan, culminated in the development of a private social club. The organization tasked Stanford White of McKim, Mead and White to design a marble-clad clubhouse infused with Italian Renaissance influences. Fast forward more than a century later to when J.A. Jennings, Inc. helped the club usher in another new era for this landmark of NYC’s Gilded Age with a full guest room renovation.

Based on their expertise and reputation, J.A. Jennings, Inc. was selected again 20 years later as the general contractor to complete a gut renovation of four floors in the Annex and a cosmetic upgrade of the tired guest suites. The team of more than 50 contractors worked together with Acheson Doyle Partners to deliver a multi-faceted, high-end upgrade that adhered to historic preservation standards.

The facility was occupied during the renovation, so J.A. Jennings, Inc. transported materials via an exterior scaffold and created a custom vinyl wrap mimicking the building’s limestone façade to eliminate disruption.

In just six months, J.A. Jennings, Inc. exceeded the completion deadline, ensuring construction was finalized ahead of the club’s busy holiday season.
