As one of the nation’s top-ranked research, educational and clinical healthcare networks, Weill Cornell Medicine Center (WCMC) is committed to exceptional patient care, scientific discovery, and the education of future physicians in New York City and around the world.

WCMC selected J.A. Jennings, Inc. as its general contractor to build one its newest clinical spaces—the Westside ObGyn/Primary Care practice. The project included a full interior build-out and exterior marquee for the new luxury building located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The 9-month schedule, aggressive in normal times, was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and tightened construction restrictions implemented by the Department of Buildings (DOB) just months after project commencement. While the facility was deemed essential by the city of New York, J.A. Jennings, Inc. faced numerous challenges obtaining building materials and labor.

J.A. Jennings, Inc. tapped into its deep relationships with its partners to keep the project on track and offer creative solutions for scheduling and labor management, while keeping each team member safe from COVID-19. The team stayed true to its commitment of transforming this facility from a concrete vault into a state-of-the-art clinic complete with finishes and amenities that complement the character of one of Manhattan’s most sought-after neighborhoods.
